Rita Hayworth, from Gilda to Rita

In the light of all the changes that are happening all over the world, we need to tell the story of Rita Hayworth. But this time not through the film critic size or the cinephiles eyes but through her own eyes, through Margarita Carmen Cansino’s eyes.

We glamorize Hollywood, the Golden Age, but it was not a friendly, fun town. It was a town run by some very ambitious and very ruthless men who wanted to get what they could get from their stars. What Rita Hayworth wanted was a family and a home. She didn’t want to be the “love goddess”. She just wanted to be loved. She was direct damage from the patriarchal system that Hollywood was.  If you were expected to work in the Golden Age of Hollywood which is exactly what happened to Margarita Carmen Cansino.
