“Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the communist party?” This is the question thousands of Americans were forced to answer during the years of anti-communist paranoia. From chewing gum vignettes for children to movies made in Hollywood, anti-Communist propaganda would become one of the driving forces of American politics and the obsession of several skillful politicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The witch hunt would fascinate America and Hollywood for more than fifty years.

In 1947 the Cold War is officially declared. The US government and FBI see communists everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fear is real: much of America, terrorized by the atomic bomb, slips into a state of paranoia.  Institutional propaganda films, designed to put Americans on the alert against the dangers of Communism, begin to multiply.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
